A group of twenty-five men gathered on Thursday, December 5th, for an evening of prayer and fraternity along with Fr. Damian Ference, Vicar for Evangelization. The men heard from Fr. Damian about 'what men bring to the table' of the work and mission of the Church. Fr. Damian referred to eight different men in the Bible who are good examples of virtuous living that help men appreciate their various gifts and talents. The eight men mentioned were Adam, Abraham, Job, Jonah, Jesus, Peter, Paul, and Joseph. The variety of men helped the men present for the talk appreciate things like obedience, care for creation, faithfulness to God despite suffering and hardship, and many more. Toward the end of his talk, Fr. Damian encouraged those in attendance to continue to create a culture of invitation within the parish community.
Deacon Tim mentioned how great it was having Fr. Damian here for our second annual event. With the support of the Holy Name Society, this event brought the men of the parish together for some time to pray and reflect. "We are so lucky to have an active Holy Name Society at St. Justin Martyr with men who want to cultivate a great spirit of hope. What a great way to begin the Advent Season," says Fr. Josh Cochrac. The group intends to host another event similar to this one in 2025.
